portfolio > studies of sensing & seeing

Studies of Sensing & Seeing is a mixed media series that was constructed on panels with many layers and materials. The series examines memory and perceptions integral to our sense of belonging, place and identity. Material and light studies merge fictional and real spaces to imagine liminal spaces between self and other where past, present and future are blurred -- essentially these densely layered objects are a composite of memory, imagination, places and time. In addition to the panels shown here, the series also includes process records including shiny iridescent paint chips, rags and tools used to apply liquids, instructions for interacting with the work and lighting, and digital recordings of my surroundings.
