Artistic Research + Installation Projects > Siesta Project: When Faraway Feels Like Home

The Siesta Project, Can Serrat Artist Residency in El Bruc, Spain:

I created stories with discarded objects and materials that I found in flea markets, my residence, and around El Bruc, Monserrat and Barcelona. These items inspired my on-going investigation of sense of place through art+research. The Siesta Project included altars and mixed media work with paper, drawing, collage, and home materials (sewing and construction). The result was a visual and emotional map reflecting relationships with place, leading to more questions about why we feel intrinsically connected or disconnected in our surroundings.
